Strategies...a set of blueprints

Very rarely do clients come to us and ask us for a specific product.  What they usually do is come to us with a need.  Sometimes it is in the form of pain and they are hoping that we know how to make that pain go away.  Other times it is something they want, but don't know how to get there.

What is the first question an architect may ask you if you asked for construction drawings?  Would the architect assume that everyone wants the same type of building?  Perhaps if he or she only knew how to draw shopping malls, everyone would either leave with plans for a shopping mall or nothing at all.  The point is that everyone wants to build something different than the next.  We need to start with the question:  What is it you want to build?

If you think of building a plan for the future, regardless of whether it is the elimination of something painful or the addition of something pleasant that you are striving for, it is important to start thinking in terms of strategies, instead of financial products.  If you think of all of the financial products that are available to planners, generally speaking, we all have the same building supplies and tools.  However, that does not make us all equal.  The products are the bricks, but the Strategies are the tools and mortar, that when combined, create the building.  The final product should be what you envision, not simply what someone is capable of building for you.

Every person is unique, but many times, their circumstances are similar to others around them.  Listed to the left are a few of our more common strategies we employ.
